In 1968, Robin Zeng was born in Lankou Village, Ningde, Fujian Province. This village is not big but faces the sea. Its environment is very superior. It was once rated as the "beautiful village" in Fujian Province. This beautiful environment may have helped Robin Zeng to engage in low-carbon and environmental protection in the new energy industry.

In 1985, Robin Zeng was admitted to Shanghai Jiaotong University from Ningde No. 1 High school in the United States with excellent results, majoring in Naval architecture; After working, he also obtained a master's degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from South China University of Technology; In 2002, Robin Zeng studied in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and finally obtained a doctor's degree in physics.

In 1989, after Robin Zeng graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University as an undergraduate, he was assigned to work in a country, but no one understood the reason. After working for a short time, Robin Zeng suddenly resigned to work in Guangdong Xinke Electronics Factory. At that time, Huang Shilin, Robin Zeng's high school classmate, also resigned to work in Guangdong. Who would have thought that Huang Shilin would become Robin Zeng's most important working partner in the future, serving as the vice chairman of CATL.

Soon, Robin Zeng rose to the position of engineering director because of his outstanding work in the electronics factory. At the age of 31, Robin Zeng, who had worked in this multinational electronics factory for ten years, welcomed his first entrepreneurial project.

In 1999, Robin Zeng was called to the office by SAE CEO Liang Shaokang to investigate a battery project, which Liang Shaokang wanted to do next.

However, Robin Zeng was not enthusiastic about this. After discussing it with colleagues and industry experts for a long time, he wrote a report to Liang Shaokang and thought it was feasible.

Liang Shaokang asked Robin Zeng to investigate the project, which was very meaningful, because he had long wanted to pull Robin Zeng to do the project together. Robin Zeng rejected Liang Shaokang several times because there was a company that wanted to be hired as the general manager.

Liang Shaokang didn't give up. Ask Chen Tanghua, Robin Zeng's immediate boss, to talk to Robin Zeng again. Chen Tanghua even came back from the United States to meet Robin Zeng for this matter. Robin Zeng was finally moved by Liang Shaokang's reluctance to give up. The three people jointly founded Amperex Technology Limited (ATL), which is located in Dongguan.
