The most normal activation method for lithium-ion battery protection boards in a protected state is charging. This state is when the protection board is still in an abnormal situation, causing the protection board to disconnect and charge and discharge. At this time, both charging and discharging are useless. Only by first removing the cause of the protection board's operation and then charging and activating it, some protection boards with self recovery can activate themselves as long as the abnormal situation is resolved, without charging.

The real activation process of lithium-ion batteries is as follows: the lithium-ion battery shell is filled with electrolyte, sealed, formed, and then discharged. After several cycles, the electrodes are fully immersed in the electrolyte and activated until the capacity meets the requirements. This means that the lithium-ion battery has already been activated by the user after leaving the factory.

Method for activating nickel hydrogen rechargeable batteries

1. Activation of new battery capacity: Conduct 3 complete charges and discharges, with a charging mode of 0.1C being the appropriate one. This is because high current charging can cause damage to the electrode when the battery is not activated and the charge is low. In theory, if the battery charge is greater than 40% during the first charging, it can be used first and then charged; otherwise, if it is less than 40%, it can be charged first and then used.

2. Old batteries can be activated by removing internal resistance: NiMH batteries with increased internal resistance can be activated by using high current discharge. In practice, short-circuit experiments are usually carried out. During a short-circuit, the current will increase from small to large, and the NiMH battery will slowly heat up. When the battery body reaches 40 ℃, discharge will stop, and when the temperature returns to normal, short-circuit discharge will be carried out again. After this cycle, the short-circuit discharge process will be completed until the battery voltage drops to 1.0V.
