Can CATL compete with Japan and South Korea after the policy umbrella is removed

Later, Panasonic obtained an order from TSLA, and the two achieved mutual success. On the 21700 battery cells to be used in TSLAMode3, Panasonic used carbon silicon negative electrodes and added 10% silicon to the traditional graphite negative electrode. The theoretical energy density of silicon is about 10 times that of graphite. This makes TSLA stand out in battery power and difficult to surpass. And TSLA's annual shipment of 100000 orders has filled Panasonic's profits.

In addition to Japan's Panasonic, South Korean duo Samsung and LG are also formidable competitors.

Regarding new technologies, South Korean companies have their own three axes: first, they learn advanced Japanese and American technologies, then use their national efforts to develop and achieve leadership, reduce costs, and finally, the consortium uses its scale advantage to expand globally.

Throughout South Korea, both panel and memory technologies have emerged like this and defeated Japan.

In the battery business, South Korea still wants to repeat its old tricks: learn advanced technology from Japan first, rely on strong manufacturing and research capabilities, quickly mature technology, and occupy the market.

In North America and Europe, Korean batteries have already occupied a considerable market share. The General Chevrolet Volt uses batteries from Samsung SDI. LG took over Mercedes Benz, BMW, and Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid cars.

But they all understand that only by winning the Chinese market can they defeat Panasonic and dominate the world.

So in October 2015, Samsung (SDI) Huanxin Power Lithium Battery Company was completed in Xi'an High tech Zone. In the same month, LG completed its power lithium battery factory in Nanjing.
