Last year, the electric aircraft market was a bright spot, but many people did not take it seriously. At present, the electric aircraft market is not a rapidly expanding market, but it is still larger in scale compared to electric vehicles 10 or 20 years ago. For many years, electric aircraft technology has been improving, but the light of progress has been obscured by TSLA and BYD. Recently, the Germans showcased the Extra300L electric aircraft, which caught our attention.

Walter Extra is the founder of ExtraAircraft, which developed a two seater electric aircraft that is safer, cleaner, and more fun to fly. The Axtra330LE is equipped with a Siemens motor and can fly up to 3000 meters in just 4 minutes and 22 seconds, with a climbing speed of 11.5 meters per second. Electric aircraft has been recognized by the International Federation of Nations (FAI) and in November 2016, it broke the world record for climbing performance. Since mid-2016, it has maintained a record for the fastest speed of electric aircraft.

The top speed of the Extra330LE reaches 337.5 kilometers per hour. The fuselage is 7.5 meters long, 2.6 meters high, with a wingspan of 8 meters, and a total wing area of 10.84 square meters.

Although the Ultra330LE is small in size, its performance is not weak. 330LE is equipped with a direct drive 580 volt Siemens electric SP260D motor, with an output power of 260 kW (348 horsepower) and a speed of up to 2500 RPM. The sustained torque of the aircraft reaches 1000Nm. The weight of the electric motor is only 50 kilograms, and with the installation of propeller bearings, the power to weight ratio is excellent, reaching 5 kilowatts per kilogram. The motor was developed in collaboration with Siemens, Aeronautics Research Program, MT Propaller, and Pipistrel from Germany.
