The decline in policy subsidies, industry overcapacity, and fluctuations in raw material prices have driven a deep reshuffle of the power lithium battery industry.

Local power lithium battery giants such as CATL New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (300750.SZ, hereinafter referred to as "CATL") and BYD Co., Ltd. (002594.SZ, hereinafter referred to as "BYD") are rapidly expanding and industry concentration is further strengthening. At the same time, TSLA (TS-LA), together with Panasonic, LG Chemical from South Korea, and Samsung SDI, are continuously compressing battery costs.

Recently, an international analysis firm UBS supply report showed that testing and evaluation of batteries from Panasonic, LG Chemical, Samsung SDI, and CATL found that the lithium battery cost for TSLA and Panasonic cooperation was the lowest, reaching $111/kWh (approximately RMB 771/kWh). However, CATL from China ranks last with a cost exceeding $150/kWh (approximately RMB 1042/kWh).

Regarding issues such as battery manufacturing costs and yield utilization, CATL's relevant personnel responded to a reporter from China Business Daily and expressed their hope to focus on technology research and development with a low profile. They did not express any views on UBS's aforementioned report. BYD responded by stating that its current battery business is gradually reducing costs through economies of scale (expanding production), technological innovation (research and development in various battery technology fields), and lean management.
