The lithium iron phosphate route is a power lithium-ion battery route that China chose unilaterally when it began developing new energy vehicles. It has a strong development foundation in the Chinese market, and many battery manufacturers have clearly focused on developing lithium iron phosphate power lithium-ion battery technology. Among the 12 battery manufacturers in Figure 2, 8 are like this. All the power lithium battery products supplied to the market by BYD, Guoxuan High Tech, and Waterma in 2015 were lithium iron phosphate batteries; More than 90% of CATL, AVIC Lithium Battery, and Guangyu are lithium iron phosphate batteries; Nearly 90% of Wanxiang is a lithium iron phosphate battery; Only Tianjin Lishen turned slightly faster, with ternary batteries accounting for over 27%. Bicke has basically completed its transformation, and less than 1% of the power lithium battery products supplied to the market in 2015 were still lithium iron phosphate batteries. Mengguli has been adhering to the ternary/lithium manganese oxide power lithium battery route for many years.

According to data from True Lithium Research, in 2015, a total of 63 battery manufacturers supplied 11.4212 million kWh of lithium iron phosphate power lithium battery products to the new energy vehicle market (referring only to battery cells, excluding lithium iron phosphate batteries using lithium titanate), with the top 10 accounting for over 85% of the market share, as shown in Figure 3. BYD, CATL, and Guoxuan High Tech occupy the top three positions in the market, roughly belonging to the 3 million kWh, 2 million kWh, and 1 million kWh levels, respectively. The total market share of the three companies has exceeded 50%, and an oligopoly has been formed. Manufacturers with a market share of over 5% also include Tianjin Lishen, Waterma, AVIC Lithium Battery, and Wanxiang, all of which have supply volumes exceeding 600000 kWh.

For the new energy vehicle market in China, the rise of the ternary/lithium manganese oxide power lithium battery route has been a recent two to three years. Under the guidance of national policies, more and more manufacturers are joining this team. In 2015, a total of 44 battery manufacturers supplied 4105600 kWh of ternary/lithium manganate power lithium battery products (excluding ternary batteries using lithium titanate) to the new energy vehicle market. Among them, the top 10 accounted for less than 64% of the market share, and the market concentration was significantly lower than that of lithium iron phosphate. At present, there is no oligopoly in this market, with SK Innovation, a South Korean manufacturer that collaborates with BAIC New Energy and Beijing Electric Control, ranking first, with a market share of 10.85%. Two other Korean manufacturers, LG Chemical and Samsung SDI, have also made it to the top 10.
