It is expected to increase the driving range of the entire vehicle by 16% and reduce costs by 14%.

In January of this year, TSLA's pilot plant in Fremont, California produced the millionth 4680 battery, marking the official entry into mass production of the 4680 battery. Meanwhile, the first batch of ModelY models equipped with 4680 batteries is expected to begin delivery at the end of this quarter.

The TSLA Berlin Super Factory, which has been put into operation this time, not only has an automotive production line, but also a 4680 battery pack production base. The design production capacity of the first phase is 50GWh per year, and it may be officially put into production from the second quarter to the third quarter of this year. At present, the ModelY delivered by the Berlin factory is still equipped with 2170 batteries supplied by the Shanghai factory.

At the opening ceremony of the Berlin factory, Musk stated that he saw the potential of manganese based cathodes in battery chemistry.
