Power battery enterprises continue to expand production

In 2021, multiple power battery companies have released expansion plans.

On the evening of February 2nd, Ningde Times announced that it plans to invest a total of 29 billion yuan to build three production bases in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, Yibin, Sichuan, and Ningde, Fujian, with an expected increase in production capacity of 79GWh. On February 19th, Yiwei Lithium announced that it agreed to invest its wholly-owned subsidiary, Huizhou Yiwei Power Battery Co., Ltd., in the construction of the "Passenger Car Lithium Ion Power Battery Project (Phase I)" and "xHEV Battery System Project (Phase I)" with its own and self raised funds, with an investment amount not exceeding 1 billion yuan and 2.6 billion yuan, respectively.

In addition, power battery companies such as BYD, AVIC Lithium Battery, and Guoxuan High tech are all accelerating their production expansion.

The accelerated expansion of power battery enterprises is related to the significant increase in downstream consumption of new energy vehicles.

In January of this year, the sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 179200 units, a year-on-year increase of 286.38%. Among them, the sales of pure electric vehicles reached 150600 units, a year-on-year increase of 350.20%.

At the same time, many regions across the country have introduced policies of "celebrating the Chinese New Year on the spot", further promoting the consumption market of new energy vehicles. JD big data shows that during the Spring Festival, the order volume of new energy vehicles and some other products in first tier cities increased by 10 to 20 times year-on-year.

Zhang Xiang, a member of the New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry Expert Think Tank of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, told Securities Daily that according to the plan, the sales of new energy vehicles this year will increase significantly. In December of last year, the country released the "14th Five Year Plan" new energy vehicle sales target, which aims to reach 30 million vehicles in the entire year by 2025, with new energy vehicles accounting for 20%, that is, 6 million vehicles by 2025, Last year, the sales of new energy vehicles were 1.36 million. Every year, there will be an increase of 900000 vehicles, and this year's sales will reach 2.2 million vehicles, so battery manufacturers are expanding production.
