On August 27, Kaizhong Precision (002823) announced that Daimler had recently signed a Multi year Supply Contract with Kaizhong Water Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company in Germany. During the period from September 1, 2018 to December 31, 2027, the company will supply Daimler with new energy vehicle power cell package structural parts, which will be produced in the company's factory in China.

In fact, in a survey record form in May this year, Kaizhong Precision said that the company's new energy vehicle battery components mainly include power battery PACK components and power battery structural parts, which are not in mass production at present. The power battery PACK components developed jointly by the company and Daimler Benz are in the sample review stage. The company's power battery structure products are in the sample development stage.

The signing of a long-term supply contract with Daimler for battery pack structural parts of new energy vehicles shows that its products and technologies have been recognized by Daimler and are about to enter the stage of mass production and supply.

Kaizhong Precision said that the Chinese factory passed the audit of Daimler in 2017. The signing of this contract marks Daimler's recognition of the company's technical capacity, quality management system and automatic production capacity of battery pack structures for new energy vehicles. It is another milestone of the company in the strategic field of new energy vehicle components, further enhancing the influence of the company's brand in the international market, will strongly promote the rapid development of the company in the power battery pack structure market, and will have a positive impact on the company's future main business growth and continuous profitability.

It is worth noting that the power battery system structure supply contract signed between Kazhong Precision and Daimler also revealed another signal that Daimler's electric vehicles and power battery layout in China will enter a new stage.

As an international first-class automobile enterprise, Daimler previously announced that it would invest more than 11 billion dollars to produce electric vehicles and power batteries. As one of its most important markets, China has also been highly valued by Daimler, which has further accelerated its layout of electric vehicles and power batteries in China.

In terms of electric vehicles, Daimler and BAIC signed a framework agreement in July 2017. The two sides will jointly invest 5 billion yuan to establish a pure electric vehicle production base and power battery factory in Beijing Benz to produce pure electric vehicle products of the Mercedes Benz brand.

In February 2018, BAIC Motor Corporation announced that the company and Daimler AG ("Daimler") would expand the local production scale of Mercedes Benz passenger cars to meet the demand of the Chinese market in the future. The company and Daimler plan to jointly invest more than 11.9 billion yuan (about 1.5 billion euros) to build a new luxury car production base for their joint venture Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Beijing Benz").

As early as 2010, Daimler established a joint venture with China's leading new energy vehicle company BYD to produce and sell pure electric vehicles Denza. It has been eight years since then, and Daimler has become the first foreign car company to deploy new energy vehicles in China.

In terms of power batteries, Daimler announced that it would build several battery plants in Germany, Beijing, Bangkok, Tuscaloosa and Alabama to meet its strategic needs for automobile electrification.

In addition to self built battery plants, Daimler is also looking for advantageous power battery suppliers worldwide. Currently, in addition to Korean and Japanese battery suppliers such as SK Innovation, Panasonic and Samsung, Daimler has also added two Chinese power battery suppliers, Ningde Shidai and Yiwei Lithium Energy, to further optimize its battery supplier system.
