Our batteries are highly recyclable - according to our material list, we have an average of 83% steel and copper by weight. They are nearly 100% recyclable. We are developing technology to recycle the remaining parts, namely the lithium-ion battery itself. Some companies have claimed to own 50% of their batteries, which has led to a OneCharge battery recycling rate of around 90%. It is worth mentioning that we plan to readjust the use of the battery after the end of the forklift's service life. Typically, approximately 80% of batteries can still operate in less demanding applications, such as home energy storage. There is a lot of potential here, we just haven't accumulated enough old batteries to continue working!

Although lithium itself is not a major issue from a pollution perspective, these batteries do contain metals such as cobalt, nickel, and manganese. Although these metals are not as problematic as lead, they are considered toxic heavy metals.

In addition, these metals must be mined, and this activity may cause pollution (similar to lead mining). In addition to potential pollution, many criticisms surrounding the environmental impact of lithium-ion batteries are related to child labor in cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

I am contacting OneCharge again to seek opinions on environmental and ethical issues related to the use of cobalt in lithium-ion batteries.
