The Russian President's Economic Modernization and Innovation Development Commission announced that researchers from the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences had successfully developed an efficient and stable thin film solar cell based on organic semiconductor materials. The organic semiconductor material is composed of conjugated polymers and fullerene derivatives. The research project was completed with the support of the Russian Science Foundation, and the results were published in the scientific journal Journal of Materials Chemistry.

Russian researchers found in their research on creating new conjugated polymers that the use of irregular copolymers, in which the monomer chain is irregularly arranged in the main chain, has better photoelectric properties relative to the regular structure of the copolymers.
