Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have set up a cooperative organization whose important goal is to develop affordable fast charging batteries. According to the brief test conducted by the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Zenlabs Energy has developed a 315Wh/kg silicon anode bag battery, which may be achieving the goals of low price and fast charging. American laboratories have passed the certification of these battery chips.

According to the three hour protocol established by USABC, the Institute has performed more than 1000 dynamic stress test (DST) cycles on ZenlabEnergy's batteries. The battery also experienced a 900DST fast charging cycle using a 4C rate, which is equivalent to charging within 15 minutes at 100% depth of discharge (DOD).

The results show that ZenlabEnergy's battery can recover 80% of its power in 10 minutes, and 90% in 15 minutes. With these features, the 300 mile range equipped with them can recover 240 miles (386 km) in 10 minutes. Zenlabs Energy also believes that cars equipped with silicon anode bag batteries will be able to provide a service life of about 300000 miles (482800 kilometers) using the same battery pack.

In 2020, CATL, the largest power lithium battery manufacturer in China, said it would introduce a power lithium battery that can be used for 16 years and has a service life of more than 2 million kilometers. Therefore, the battery with a life span of nearly 500000 km does not seem to be invincible. However, it is believed that Zenlabs Energy will continue to improve the bag battery technology.
