Discussion from 100kWh

1) Upgrade based on the C method

According to the existing information, the previous upgrade from 32 modules (2.625kWh for a single module at 84kWh) to 12 modules (8.3kWh for a single module) has basically reached a certain limit in terms of layout. If the existing specifications are kept unchanged, the energy density of the monomer will increase greatly. That is to say, if the specifications of the 590 cell of the C company remain unchanged, NCM811+silicon carbon cathode will be used on this basis, and a certain lithium supplement process may also be used. On this basis, the method of 150 kWh may be implemented.

2) Honeycomb method

Another route is to visit the senior management of Weilai when I saw it last time on Honeycomb Battery Day. Under the L6 cell of Honeycomb, it is possible to further improve the method of using the long cell to replace the 590 module developed for the Great Wall. As shown in the figure below, the customized cell size of this honeycomb is 575mm in length and 21.5mm in thickness, which is a bit like using 590 cells in a soft package to pack several cells together. The battery method of this honeycomb energy for Great Wall Motors has targeted the endurance target of NEDC for 880km, which is expected to be introduced to the market in the second half of 2021.

That is to say, on the basis of this size specification (574 * 21.5 * 118), after the adjustment of high nickel+SI materials, it is possible to further increase the 150 kWh from 135 kWh.

3) Overseas soft package method

According to the reports of Korean media, both LGChem and SK started to further increase the length of the flexible lithium battery from 500mm to 1000mm. That is to say, after BYD made the blade battery, the original soft package manufacturers that made the lamination process also developed larger capacity batteries on this road. Upgrade from the existing 78Ah to about 120-130Ah. If it is more than 2P, it can be raised.

If the battery system is only made into two long modules as shown in the figure below, it can be further moved to about 150kWh with high energy density cells.
