At the same time, everyone will have questions about whether the battery capacity is sufficient. Xiaobian will take you to the field test today and popularize a little knowledge of primary lithium batteries.

We selected several typical lithium primary battery models as the samples for this test, namely, lithium sub-power battery ER18505M, lithium sub-energy battery ER26500H, and soft pack battery CP224147. This time, we will start the test from Fuente ER18505M.

ER18505M was mainly used in smart water meters in previous years, and now it has been widely used in low power consumption fields such as NB-IoT and Lora, such as smoke detector, smart manhole cover, etc. In this test, we randomly selected 180810190223190401, three production batches of batteries stored in the quality department of Fuente in the early stage.

According to the information provided on the official website of Fuente products, the discharge capacity at 5mA,+25 ℃ and 2.0V termination voltage is 3500mAh, and the discharge characteristics at 25 ℃ are as follows:

The nominal capacity is corresponding to the orange curve in the middle of the figure above, 5mA - 3.5Ah, and the corresponding discharge time is 700 hours (nearly 30 days). In order to get the results a little faster, we choose 100mA - 2.9Ah (about 29 hours) corresponding to the second blue curve in the above figure for the test to see the difference between the test capacity and the nominal capacity.

1、 180810 batch discharge curve:

When the 180810 batch battery is discharged to 2.0V at a constant current of 100mA (0.1A), it takes 32 hours and 40 minutes, and the discharge capacity is 3.26Ah. It is significantly higher than the corresponding capacity of the official website by 2.9Ah.

2、 190223 batch discharge curve:

The 190223 batch battery takes 32 hours and 49 minutes to discharge from 100mA (0.1A) constant current to 2.0V, and the discharge capacity is 3.27Ah. It is also 2.9Ah higher than the corresponding capacity of the official website.

3、 190401 batch discharge curve:

The 190401 batch is a new battery produced at the beginning of this month. Let's take a look at the situation of its 400mA high current discharge.

When the constant current of the 190401 battery is discharged to 2.0V at 400mA, it takes 7 hours and 4 minutes to release 2.82Ah of capacity, which is also higher than the capacity corresponding to the high-current discharge curve on the official website.

Summary: According to our rapid test, the actual capacity of several sample batteries is higher than the nominal capacity. According to Manager Yang of Fuente Quality Department, the factory battery capacity of the company will normally be slightly higher than the nominal capacity. This is to leave surplus power when customers calculate their product power consumption to ensure that the battery solution can reach the design life of the customer's product. However, if customers are not sure about the power consumption data of their products, it is easy to create the illusion of insufficient battery capacity.
