According to the official website of the People's Government of Yibin City, on July 14th, CATL and Yibin City signed a comprehensive deepening cooperation agreement. On the basis of good cooperation in the early stage, the two sides will work together to build CATL's Southwest headquarters, production base, industrial ecosystem, international training center, new energy college, and new energy industry fund.

It is reported that the deepening cooperation agreement signed by both parties this time will focus on the comprehensive construction of CATL Southwest Center in Sanjiang New Area, Yibin, and build CATL Southwest Operation Headquarters and R&D Center around the production base and industrial chain of Sichuan Times.

In addition, both parties will jointly establish CATL International Training Center and New Energy College to promote the construction of talent teams in the power lithium battery industry and provide intellectual and talent support for industrial development.

Since September 2019, CATL and Yibin City have successively signed the first to sixth phases of Sichuan Times Power Lithium Battery Project, with a total investment of over 30 billion yuan and an area of approximately 3000 acres.

Among them, CATL will invest 10 billion yuan in the first phase of the project, covering approximately 1000 acres of land, to build a power lithium battery production line with an annual output of 30GWh. Moreover, the first phase of the project was capped in January this year and officially put into operation on June 17th in the Eastern Industrial Park of Sanjiang New Area in Yibin.

This signing marks a solid step forward in the cooperation process between CATL and Yibin City.

It is worth mentioning that both parties have also decided to invest in the construction of Sichuan Times Phase 7, 8, 9, and 10 projects in the Sanjiang New Area of Yibin, accelerating the construction of the world's largest power lithium battery production base in Yibin, and achieving mutual benefit and win-win situation for both parties.

At present, with the Sanjiang New Area Automotive Industry Park as the core, Yibin has established four complete vehicle companies, including Geely Automobile, Kaiyi Automobile, Chery New Energy Automobile, and Chery Commercial Vehicle, as well as more than 30 new energy vehicle core companies and automotive parts companies.

In terms of supporting companies in the power lithium battery industry chain, well-known listed companies such as Geely Times, Changying Precision, Suzhou Tianhua Ultra Clean, Guangzhou Guoguang Electric, and Jiangsu Guotai have also established subsidiaries in Yibin.
