Their research is all open to the public, and one day when it opens to society, they place this lithium nitride, a small button like battery on the table, with a lead-acid battery next to it. At first glance, a lead-acid battery is heavy, and a button battery is light. I thought this thing was indeed very useful, so I immediately reported to the domestic institute that I wanted to change my profession from crystal growth to a new discipline called solid ion studies. About a month later, the office replied to me with permission to change careers. After returning to China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences strongly supported giving this project to the Institute of Physics, stating that a research laboratory should be established for this young person. Therefore, a solid ion science laboratory was quickly established. This was the first solid ion science laboratory in China at that time, and also the smallest laboratory in the Institute of Physics. My job is researching lithium-ion conductors and lithium-ion batteries.

After Sony announced its industrialization in 1991, the Institute of Physics quickly followed suit. At that time, we were pondering how to take the first step towards industrialization. Our research unit is to turn money into knowledge, and if the investment unit is to turn technology into money. How can we think of a method to turn knowledge into technology? That is, how can we connect? We have proposed an idea, which is whether it is possible to think of a method to move research units forward and investment units forward, so that we can meet in the middle of the "bridge". So we found an investor and signed a research and development agreement for A-type lithium-ion batteries in 1993. The investor provided a funding of 100000 yuan, and more importantly, three people were sent. These three people had great support for us at that time because I was only a master's student in the laboratory and lacked manpower.

Soon in 1995, the first lithium-ion battery was born from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. At that time, this phone was called "Big Brother", and perhaps a little older to understand, "Big Brother" was a phone that resembled a brick. At that time, holding a "Big Brother" was a symbol of identity. The A-type lithium-ion battery is the "big brother" battery. After appraisal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it was believed that at that time, this level reached the world's advanced level and could be further advanced. This is how we took this step from knowledge to technology in the laboratory at that time.

There is a viewpoint at present that lithium-ion batteries were invented by the Japanese, but China is not technologically advanced in lithium-ion batteries, but is relatively advanced in terms of usage. The invention of lithium-ion batteries is definitely not Japanese, otherwise how could the Nobel Prize be awarded to two Americans and one Japanese. So the statement that lithium-ion batteries were invented by the Japanese is not entirely correct. It can be said that lithium-ion batteries were first industrialized by the Japanese, which is correct.

We can see from this picture that the Japanese first announced industrialization in 1991, with a market share of 100%, and then it continued to decline, and it is still declining today. Even Sony no longer produces lithium-ion batteries, and its lithium-ion batteries are sold to another company. Koreans and Chinese people are moving forward. By 2014, our country's market share of lithium-ion batteries and lithium-ion batteries had surpassed that of Japan and South Korea, ranking first in the world, and is still on the rise today.

Our lithium-ion battery technology is good from the current development situation. In fact, it is a collaboration between academia, engineering, and industry. It is a collaborative effort between research institutes and universities, highly valuing the close integration of original innovation, basic research, and applied research to accelerate the industrialization process of research results.
