SAIC MAXUS revealed that about 20 fuel cell vehicles were first put into demonstration operation in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, and the scale of demonstration operation vehicles in 2018 will reach 400, becoming the world's largest fuel cell demonstration zone.

Fuel powered cell vehicles require only three minutes of hydrogen refueling, with a range of 500 kilometers, lower operating costs than gasoline vehicles, discharge water, and no pollution. Therefore, they are an ideal solution for new energy vehicles. However, an important development bottleneck they face is the lack of hydrogen refueling stations. Yesterday, relevant personnel from SAIC Group stated that after the first batch of fuel cell vehicles are put into operation, SAIC will deploy mobile hydrogen refueling facilities through its support team to supply vehicles in the park. Soon, a hydrogen refueling station will be built in the chemical park to meet the needs of the demonstration area. Afterwards, new technologies for fuel cell vehicles in Shanghai will be applied to the demonstration operation of the chemical park.
