This month, Yuanyuan Energy acquired the power battery business (AESC) of Nissan Automobile. The market environment in 2016 and 2017 is not optimistic for China's wind power industry as a whole. Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Ningxia, Gansu, Xinjiang and other traditional wind power provinces have abandoned wind power and limited power. Environmental assessment in the central and southern regions has become increasingly strict, and land use approval has become more difficult. The domestic wind power market has experienced a decline in installed capacity for two consecutive years. In 2016, China's new wind power grid capacity decreased by 41.5% year-on-year, while in 2017, it decreased by 22.1% year-on-year.

The performance of Vision Energy in the past two years showed a high growth against the trend. In 2017, its revenue growth exceeded 50%, and its profit growth exceeded 70%.

"Although the whole industry declined in 2017, it should be noted that the demand in low wind speed areas and offshore areas is still growing." Zhang Lei said that low wind speed and offshore areas are key growth areas in China's wind power industry at present, and the development momentum is still healthy.

At the same time, Vision also participates in international competition. In the future, the overseas market is expected to become a new growth point of Vision's wind power business.

On August 3, Envision Group announced the acquisition of Automotive Energy Supply Corporation (AESC), Nissan's power battery business.

According to the acquisition agreement, Vision Group controls the electric battery business and production base of Nissan Automotive EnergySupply Corporation (AESC). At the same time, Vision also acquired all the shares of NECEnergyDevices, Ltd., a battery electrode production business company under NEC. After the acquisition, Nissan will own 20% of the shares of the new company.

Yasuhiro Yamauchi, Nissan's chief operating officer, said that this transaction and strategic cooperation will help Nissan focus on developing and producing market leading electric vehicles, which is consistent with the goal set by Nissan's new medium-term business plan "Nissan M.O.V.E.to2022".

"We have always hoped to incorporate electric vehicles into the future energy system. No energy company has done so before." Zhang Lei introduced the motivation of cross-border acquisition of Nissan's battery business with huge investment.

According to the plan announced by Vision at the time of this acquisition, Vision plans to upgrade the existing production scale of AESC in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States to ensure the production of batteries with high energy density and longer life cycle. In addition, in order to better meet the rapidly growing demand of China's electric vehicle battery and fixed lithium-ion battery market, Vision also plans to set up a factory in Jiangyin, Wuxi, China, which will help AESC continue to reduce the cost of lithium-ion batteries.
