Due to the fact that lead-acid battery chargers are generally set in a two-stage or three-stage charging mode, the voltage levels of lithium-ion batteries and lead-acid batteries do not match. There are also many types of lithium-ion batteries, and the battery performance and battery protection board parameters may vary. Therefore, lithium-ion batteries are not like lead-acid batteries, which have universal battery chargers. Generally speaking, lithium-ion batteries come with a dedicated charger when they leave the factory. To protect lithium-ion batteries, a dedicated charger is required.

The charging control of lithium-ion batteries first charges according to a constant current, and then when the battery voltage rises to 4.2V, the voltage no longer rises. The charger detects the current, and if the current is less than a certain value, the charging ends. Lithium ion batteries are sensitive to overcharging, so the protection circuit is complex. The maximum charging rated voltage for a single nominal 3.6V battery is 4.2V, with an allowable upper limit of no more than 1%.

The ideal charging current for lead-acid batteries is pulse type. Pulse charging is best achieved through direct rectification and unfiltered pulsating DC charging using the 50-60HZ mains power supply we use. Due to the high self discharge rate of lead-acid batteries, constant voltage charging is generally used when using power frequency charging.
