1. Hidden dangers in safety: lithium-ion batteries are prone to cause battery diaphragm collapse, internal short circuit, thermal runaway and safety problems under internal and external factors such as overcharge, over-discharge, overheating and mechanical collision; At present, the electrolyte used in lithium-ion batteries is mostly flammable or combustible organic solvent, which increases the risk of fire. Traditional safety and fire protection measures often fail to effectively control the thermal runaway of lithium-ion batteries, which will lead to the rapid spread of initial fire and then evolve into large-scale fire.

2. The development of policy standards and technical specifications lags behind: the lithium-ion battery energy storage industry is still in its infancy, and the policy will still be an important driving force for the development of the market. At present, China's research on relevant strategies and policies in this field is insufficient, and effective guiding policies and incentives are lacking, which is not conducive to the further development of the lithium-ion battery energy storage industry; The formulation of technical standards for lithium ion battery energy storage in China is still in its infancy. At present, only one national standard and three group standards have been published.

3. The lag of technical standards has become an important crux that affects the standardized development of the industry, leading to problems such as too simple design of energy storage projects, fuzzy performance indicators, lack of inspection and testing, and large security risks. At present, there is no large-scale comprehensive inspection institution for the quality of lithium-ion battery products for energy storage nationwide. Some inspection items and parameter settings are distributed in more than ten inspection institutions nationwide. The quality and safety inspection of most lithium-ion battery products for energy storage, especially the high voltage, high current, explosion-proof and other tests are still missing in China.

On the development of lithium ion battery industry in the future

① Establish a recycling system: promote automobile production companies to accelerate the establishment of waste power battery recycling channels, publish the information of recycling service outlets, and ensure that the extended producer responsibility system is fully implemented;

② Accelerate the implementation of traceability management: it is an important means of recycling and management of waste power batteries to uniformly code power batteries and carry out traceability management throughout their life cycle;

③ Improve the standard system: support the development of relevant industrial, local and group standards;

④ Do a good job of pilot demonstration: find problems and seek solutions through pilot demonstration.

China Renewable Resources Recycling Association proposed that under the current technology and management conditions, relying on code traceability is the most suitable way to ensure the life cycle management of power lithium batteries. With the continuous improvement and maturity of the lithium battery recycling system for vehicles, the problems behind the coding system are expected to be solved to a certain extent.
