There are two kinds of packaging methods for flexible lithium-ion batteries: molding packaging and non-molding packaging. Formed packaging refers to box packaging. This packaging method first punches the packaging material into a box shape. The depth of the box depends on the battery. Because aluminum foil and other composite materials extend and flow during the molding process, it requires that the peel strength of different composite layers be high to prevent delamination during the molding process, and the aluminum foil will become thinner during the extension process. Generally speaking, the forming depth of 40um thick aluminum foil should not exceed 4mm, and the thickness of formed aluminum foil should not be less than 30um. The requirements for ductility and aluminum box thickness are relatively low for the non-formed packaging method because the material is not extended.

The heat sealing process parameters of the flexible packaging materials of the flexible lithium ion battery include the heat sealing time, the heat sealing pressure and the heat sealing temperature. Generally, the application of new packaging materials should readjust these three parameters to achieve the best heat sealing effect.

The flexible packaging material of the flexible lithium-ion battery has better heat sealing time and temperature, and the same heat sealing time remains unchanged. The better heat sealing pressure can also be found by changing the pressure. Of course, we can't just pursue the heat seal strength. On the basis of the heat seal strength meeting the requirements, considering the impact of heat radiation and heat conduction on the battery performance, the shorter the heat seal time, the better the heat seal temperature. At present, the heat sealing strips of flexible packaging materials are mostly in the form of concave-convex mold, and the lug is in the form of rubber block. The concave-convex mold controls the heat sealing effect by controlling the thickness of the packaging material after heat sealing. By controlling the thickness, the short circuit caused by the lug contacting the aluminum foil due to excessive pressure can be prevented, thus effectively controlling the heat sealing effect. Stick the rubber block on the pole lug first. The rubber block material is generally the same as the inner layer of the packaging material. During the heat sealing, the part in contact with the pole lug does not melt, which not only maintains the original peeling strength, but also prevents short circuit. The outer layer of the rubber block and the packaging material are heat sealed together. Because they are the same material, the heat sealing effect is very good.
