1. Overcharge explosion

The charging voltage is greater than 5V due to the loss of control of the protection circuit or the detection cabinet, resulting in the decomposition of the electrolyte, the violent reaction inside the battery, the rapid rise of the internal pressure of the battery, and the explosion of the battery.

2. Overcurrent explosion

Out of control of the protection circuit or the detection cabinet, the charging current is too large to cause lithium ions to be embedded in time, and lithium metal is formed on the surface of the pole piece, penetrating the diaphragm, and the positive and negative poles are directly short-circuited to cause explosion (rare).

3. Explosion during ultrasonic welding of plastic shell

When ultrasonic welding plastic shell, its ultrasonic energy is transferred to the battery core due to equipment reasons. The ultrasonic energy will make the internal diaphragm of the battery melt, and the positive and negative poles will be directly short-circuited, resulting in explosion.

4. Explosion during spot welding

During spot welding, the current is too large to cause serious internal short circuit and explosion. In addition, during spot welding, the positive connecting piece is directly connected with the negative electrode, making the positive and negative poles directly short circuit and explode.

5. Overdischarge explosion

The battery over-discharge or over-current discharge (more than 3C) is easy to cause the negative copper foil to dissolve and deposit on the diaphragm, causing the positive and negative poles to directly short-circuit and explode (rarely).

6. Explosion when vibration falls

The dislocation of the internal pole pieces of the core caused by the violent vibration or falling of the core directly causes serious short circuit and explosion (rarely occurs).

After the lithium ion battery cell is overcharged to a voltage higher than 4.2V, it will start to have side uses. The higher the overcharge voltage, the higher the danger. When the voltage of the lithium cell is higher than 4.2V, the number of lithium atoms left in the cathode material is less than half. At this time, the storage cell will often collapse, making the battery capacity permanently decline. If you continue to charge, because the storage cell of the negative electrode is full of lithium atoms, the subsequent lithium metal will accumulate on the surface of the negative electrode material. These lithium atoms will grow dendritic crystals from the negative surface to the direction of lithium ion. These lithium metal crystals will pass through the diaphragm paper and short circuit the positive and negative poles. Sometimes the battery will explode before the short circuit occurs. This is because during overcharging, materials such as electrolyte will crack to produce gas, which will make the battery shell or pressure valve swell and burst, allowing oxygen to enter and react with lithium atoms accumulated on the surface of the negative electrode, and then explode.
