Recently, the Rolls-Royce all-electric aircraft "Innovation Spirit" completed its first flight in 15 minutes, after which it will enter the intensive flight testing phase to collect performance data on the aircraft's electrical and propulsion systems.

According to Rolls Royce, this single seater electric aircraft is equipped with three motors, powered by 6000 batteries, and is known by Rolls Royce as the world's highest energy density battery pack. When the aircraft reaches a target speed of 480 km/h, the propeller will rotate at a speed of up to 2400 revolutions per minute.

Warren East, CEO of Rolls Royce, said: "The first flight of 'Innovative Spirit' is a great achievement for the ACCEL team and Rolls Royce. We focus on the technological breakthroughs needed by society to achieve decarbonization in land, sea, and air transportation, and seize the economic opportunity of transition to net zero emissions. This is not only to break the world record, but also to develop advanced battery and propulsion technology for this project, which has exciting applications in the market, helping to make 'zero jet' a reality."

This electric aircraft is the result of a program called ACCEL (Accelerated Flight Electrification). Participants in program include motor and controller manufacturer YASA, as well as start-up Electrolight. Funded by the Institute of Aerospace Technology (ATI) and the UK Department of Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy and Innovation.
