Recently, the hydrogen energy laboratory of the Gas Cylinder Test Center of Dalian Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection and Testing Research Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Dalian Inspection and Testing Group, independently designed and developed the first domestic hydrogen valve hydrogen cycle testing device, which has been successfully debugged and officially put into operation, providing a complete set of vehicle hydrogen valve testing services, including hydrogen cycle testing, for domestic and foreign hydrogen valve manufacturing enterprises.

Automotive hydrogen valves are important components in the hydrogen supply system of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, with complex structures and high integration. They are usually composed of one-way valves, manual/automatic stop valves, overflow valves, and temperature driven safety relief devices (TPRD). International relevant institutions have proposed test methods and requirements for automotive hydrogen valves.

In 2017, China released the national standard GB/T35544-2017 "Compressed Hydrogen Aluminum Alloy Inner Carbon Fiber Fully Wound Gas Cylinders for Vehicles", which specifies in detail the type test methods and qualification indicators for automotive hydrogen valves and TPRD. There are a total of 23 type test items, of which hydrogen cycle test and extreme temperature and pressure cycle test are the most critical two test items, It directly reflects the durability performance of automotive hydrogen valves throughout their entire life cycle under different operating conditions, with the longest testing cycle and the highest requirement for the testing capability of the testing device.

The hydrogen cycle testing device is a specialized testing device independently developed by the research team of the testing center. It is an important scientific research achievement that the team has worked hard to achieve for many years. The laboratory running the device meets the requirements of hydrogen safety construction standards.

The hydrogen cycle testing device is mainly used for hydrogen cycle testing of vehicle hydrogen cylinder port valves and TPRD tail valves, as well as extreme temperature and pressure cycle testing. After testing, the performance of this device can fully meet the requirements of GB/T35544 national standard, as well as the requirements of United Nations GTR13, ECER134, ISO19882, ANSIHGV3.1 and other specifications and standards. This device can also be used for the detection and testing of various hydrogen related components in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, with a maximum test pressure of up to 105MPa.

The successful design and development of a hydrogen cycle testing device has filled the gap in the testing capacity of domestic testing institutions, solved the problem of hydrogen related testing for automotive hydrogen valves, provided a necessary testing platform for improving the quality of automotive hydrogen valves, and will assist in the safe and healthy development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in China.
