Domestic power battery manufacturers with distinctive characteristics, such as Guoxuan High Tech, Tianjin Lishen, BYD, Yiwei Lithium Energy, Tianneng Power, etc., have significantly increased their investment in the field of power lithium batteries, and have accumulated certain technical strength in battery cells, power battery packs, battery management systems (BMS), and energy storage battery packs. According to incomplete statistics, the new investment in China's power lithium battery industry exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2015.

Industry insiders are concerned that the current investment boom in the power battery industry may lead to overcapacity in the future. More importantly, currently, most of the larger power lithium battery manufacturers in China have transformed from consumer lithium battery manufacturers. However, the safety and technical standards of power lithium batteries are much higher than those of consumer lithium batteries. If there is a lack of technological accumulation and blind transformation, the market prospects will not be optimistic. "Perhaps the quality of individual batteries in domestic enterprises is better. However, if whole vehicle enterprises want to use them, it is better to use them from abroad. Why? Because the consistency of foreign batteries is better, which is the key." Ren Yong, General Manager of Chongqing Changan New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd., said that foreign manufacturers have thousands of production control points for power batteries, while domestic manufacturers cannot achieve such strict quality control levels.
