Recently, the Sichuan Road and Bridge (600039) project with an annual production capacity of 50000 tons of lithium battery cathode materials held a commencement ceremony in Shehong County. The total investment of this project is about 3 billion yuan, and it will be constructed in three phases with a construction period of 4 years. 28 new production lines for positive electrode materials will be built. The first phase of the project is to construct a production line with an annual output of 10000 tons of lithium battery positive electrode materials, which is expected to be put into operation in October 2019.

The executing party of this project is Sichuan New Lithium Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a subscribed capital of 440 million yuan from Sichuan Road and Bridge, and an initial investment of 275 million yuan, holding 55% of the equity of the project company; Green Ran Group subscribed 160 million yuan, with an initial investment of 100 million yuan and holding 20% equity; Keneng Lithium Battery subscribed a capital of 120 million yuan, with an initial investment of 75 million yuan and holding 15% equity; Zangge Venture Capital has subscribed a capital of 80 million yuan, with an initial investment of 50 million yuan and holds 10% equity.

Previously, Sichuan New Lithium planned to construct a 30000 ton/year cathode material project in Shehong County, a 10000 ton/year ternary cathode material project, and a 20000 ton/year precursor cathode material project. The construction period is about 2 years, and it is expected to start construction in 2018 and put into production in 2020.

Sichuan Luqiao stated that the company's investment in lithium battery projects is mainly based on the promising future development prospects of the new energy materials industry, in line with national policies and industry guidance, as well as the strategic development direction of the company's resource sector, which is conducive to the company's sustainable development.

It is worth noting that due to the adjustment of subsidy policies, ternary batteries with higher energy density advantages have gained more favor from host manufacturers, and the rapid increase in the market share of ternary power batteries directly drives the growth of ternary material production and sales. At the same time, the supply of upstream cobalt raw materials is scarce and mainly relies on imports. The sharp rise in cobalt prices directly drives up the price of ternary materials, and the simultaneous increase in quantity and price increases the net revenue of ternary material enterprises.

However, due to energy density bottlenecks, the market demand for lithium iron phosphate materials has significantly declined. At the same time, the high price of upstream raw material lithium carbonate has led to a decrease in the gross profit margin of lithium iron phosphate materials, resulting in increased revenue but not increased profits for lithium iron phosphate material enterprises.

In addition, the demand for high nickel cathode materials is also constantly increasing.
